Mammoth - January with LLU

The school is going again this weekend, but I hadn't posted any photos of last months trip. Here I am with Sasha and Jossy trying not to get trampled by the wooley mammoth. =)

So it's me, Sasha, Jossy, and Mike (?) all smiles before going down the "blue". It was freaking scary! There is a difference between diamonds and squares. LOL

Some salsa lessons at night! =) BTW, lessons are free! ;)

It's hard to see, but there was some "hot-tubing" going on too! =)

Ice Skating =)

Liz and Meesh invited me to Ice Town 2 Saturday's ago. It was fun! It wasn't cold if you kept moving, but my feet were killing me. They apparently don't have skates for us wide-footed folk. Ha ha ha!

Larysa was my favorite target for our game of tag. =)

Current State of Life...

God is so good to give us family and friends who help us through the stinging life can dish out. While I know God is in control and that everything has a purpose, the human heart still bleeds red.

While romance can be beautiful and wonderful, it can also be ugly and be full of lies and hurt. My wonderful Lord has given me a niece and a nephew to occupy my time and my mind. They reveal to me the innocence my life used to once hold. I've gone hiking with friends at Indian Cove where the quietness and beauty of the desert gives me peace in the fast pace of my student life. I also have my patients, the kids, who need so much love to get better and out of the hospital. And I love making them laugh! I have parents who hug me and pray with me to reassure me the God has so many better things planned for me in my life.

I have friends...the roomies...especially Liza and Michelle who help me wrap my mind around God and his gifts rather than the ugliness of the human heart. Who build me up and tell me that I am funny, attractive, fun, and even desirable. That I need to be patient for God's match, not mine. Who spends an afternoon laughing, eating, and pillow fighting with me to keep my mind busy; and then take me ice skating and DVD watching with a cup of soy chai. I'll post photos and words as soon as I have time.

I have Mammoth again this weekend! I'm glad life is busy and not allowing me to dwell with my thoughts. I'm grateful for my real and genuine friends be cause they are also my family. I love you God!

Love your son,

Eric

Growth

Romans 5:3-6 KJV
"And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope; And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us all. For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly".

Speaking with a friend, I think it was Sarah and/or Michelle, God's forming my character through all this turmoil I'm going through. What's funny is I perceive it as turmoil but in all actuality in retrospect (although it's been less than a week) it was a minor inconvenience.

I was speaking with my sister the other night and she shared with me when she was talking with her husband, they notice the devil likes to operate that way. Throwing multiple things at you at once because it becomes increasingly harder to "be Christian" with many tribulations.

As I have mentioned before...God has never forsaken me or given me more than I can handle. Praise the Lord for his goodness and mercy.

Thank you friends who have been praying for me when I asked/texted you my request. I love you guys. God bless. Needless to say, I'm not posting my angry blog. It's over and it's in God's hands.

I need advice...

I was hurt tonight and actually wrote a blog about it. It is angry, raw, and abrupt. I want my friends to email me, not post comments, and give me some positive perspective. I feel I was lied to and used. I'm trying to chalk it up to immaturity and the lack of emotional intelligence on her part, but my heart still aches with hurt, anger, and tears. Should I post it? Wait a couple days and edit it and then post it? Or just delete it?

I feel so misled, used, lied to, played with, etc... It sucks.

Lord please help me give you control

Proverbs 3: 5, 6
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Psalms 37: 4, 5
"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."

Father, I don't understand! But I know I don't have to because you will, as you always have, gotten me through life's quirks. Although, the trials and tribulations may sting a bit, I know you will get me through. Why is it so hard to give my up control? I no longer want to be held back by my human tendencies. It is my prayer that you send the Holy Spirit to lead my life. Please return soon my Lord!

Ziba Beauty

Liza had to return to work and Michelle didn't want to drive all the way out to Victoria Gardens by herself. I needed to, or better put, wanted to go to REI, and so our urban adventure was set.

I've heard of threading eyebrows, but had never seen it done before. Ziba Beauty at Victoria Gardens (across from Urban Outfitters) does threading (like plucking), mehndi (henna tattoos), and waxing. They are apparently a chain who has a impressive celebrity client list.

Michelle signed in and was waiting for her turn. I remember hearing from some of my female friends that they don't do their services on men. I was curious as to why so I asked the lady behind the counter. She said the only restriction for men is waxing in certain areas. She said "we do men all the time!" With coaxing from the cashier and Michelle I decided to have it done. I can hear the laughter already, but I'm secure in my manhood so there! Ha ha ha! Oh...we did go to REI afterwards too =)

It was an interesting sensation. At one point I was wondering if I was in pain or if it was just different. The faster she would thread, the better. When she slowed to get bigger chunks of hair, that's when it stung a bit. It felt like a zipper on my eyebrows! She went to town between my eyebrows and after about 10 minutes I was done. I felt a little sore/raw afterwards but now, 3 hours later, I feel good and it's no longer red.

Now I know about this place, call me and we'll go sometime! And later I'll take you to Ben's nails for a manicure and a spa pedicure. =) That will be a story for a different blog I guess. Ha ha ha! Oh...if you can convince me, I have given facials and full body oil massages. However, it is a service only for someone special =)

A list of their services, locations, and prices can be found at www.ZibaBeauty.com. The Victoria Gardens store number is 909-463-9860.

The Little Fisherman

Their address is:

1175 W. Redlands Blvd.
Redlands, California 92373
(909) 798-5998
http://www.littlefisherman.com/home.html

As clinic was nearing lunchtime, I called Jeff and Erween to meet them for lunch. Unfortunately Jeff had class and Erween said he would meet me after getting his haircut. We decided to go to Sundowners, a low budget Denny's type restaurant. We wanted to eat fish, but the $20 plates were not so appealing. While I was waiting for Erween, I went to my storage unit to look for notes for school and during that process, I found my "Little Fisherman" punch card and I was due for a free meal. I was pretty excited and asked Erween if he was still interested in eating fish...

I decided to have the Mexican Sea Bass with a double portion of rice (in place of their salad, which is pretty good too). Erween went with the Halibut also with double rice. We added a Tiramisu and Chocolate dream cake to our order. We were catching up and drinking our water with lemon when our food came out. It looked and smelled so delicious! I opted for extra tarter sauce (their own secret recipe) and doused my Bass with it.

OH MY GOODNESS! The Sea Bass was so savory! I was tempted to cancel my chocolate dream cake and order another entree. Erween convinced me that it may not taste as good as it just did because now my taste buds were already teased. So I didn't do it. I've had the Halibut too, which is so tasty! The dream cake was decent...but the Tiramisu was to die for! Yes...I actually used that expression with the waitress and she just laughed. Erween almost ordered another dessert too!

After our meal we just sat there for about 15 minutes raving about our scrumptious meal. It was and explosion of flavor! (yes...yes...a line from Ratatouille) We sat there entranced like we just had an orgasm or something...the food was that good.

I have been eating at this place for a few years. I think it was JR Aprecio who introduced it to me. I normally order from the grilled menu although they do have a fried menu too. The fish varies each season and Michael Kalina, the owner, obtains his fish FRESH each morning. The fresh fish can be wrapped and brought home to cook yourself too. I've had the Salmon, Halibut, Chilean Sea Bass, Swordfish, and now the Mexican Sea Bass. They do offer other seafood if that's your cup of tea. Their dessert isn't listed on the menu and is limited to stock on hand (it's all homemade)

If you enjoy eating fish...and I'm not talking about a Fillet-o-fish or a Tuna melt from Farmer boys, I'm talking about quality seafood...then call me up and we'll sit down to the best fish meal you'll ever experience in the Inland Empire! =)

Proud uncle introducing to the world... NOAH FISHER!! =)

My sister had an OB appointment on Thursday December 27 to find out she was 5 cm dilated. She was surprised because she wasn't experiencing any contractions at all so she was sent home waiting. Today at 4:40pm she was effaced and fully dilated and began pushing. Then tada!! Welcome to the world Noah Fisher Luong =)

Mammoth Day one & two

It was a looooong drive and I got stuck at the 395/58 interchange for about an hour because they closed another highway due to high winds. When I reached around 6000 feet it started snowing and most cars on the road pulled over to put their chains on. The few of us with 4 wheel drive just put it into gear and kept on going. After I unpacked and got familiar with the condo I chatted with Liza for about 2 hours before I got ready for bed. That night would have been so boring if we hadn't talked; I did bring a couple books and homework...but yeah right I'M ON VACATION! I was bummed there wasn't any internet access either. The next day I called up my cousin Red and we spent the day skiing/snowboarding together. I'll post some photos and a video I shot. Don't get too bored! ;)

At the condo and nervous out of my mind about the first run of the day. I'm old and don't want to break anything LOL!

Me on the lift BEFORE my camera broke =(

We spent the day at Little Eagle...I was almost snatched! I ducked down just in the nick of time!
