"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
How amazing are these words of Jesus? My friends....those of you requiring strength, draw it from this passage! I know I have. =)
This week wasn't without trials for me, which was a blessing in disguise. Most of this week consisted of only one set of footprints in the sand. I've had to remind myself to "...not lean on my own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5,6 KJV) Another passage where God spoke to me this week was heard at the "Love Wins" Bible study. It's found in Romans 5:1-6 (KJV)
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."
Through the strife we encounter in life, God is strengthening our hope. I feel God is building my patience. So many times I try and fast-forward through my life to the good parts, and I often forget the character building moments God puts in my path. In another Bible study last night, I shared that there are times I'm so strong in my faith knowing that the Lord will see me through my dilemma, but many times, in just the next day or even that next moment I can be so insecure. I notice that in those times, I have not yielded to Christ Jesus. Because of that I feel it is so important for me to have continuous communication with Jesus. My friend Byron once shared with me that he studies and prays 3 times a day. While that sounds like a bit much, he compared it to our physical requirements. We eat at least 3 times a day for nourishment and energy, how much more do our souls need to be fed "spiritual" food with all the evil and temptations within it? I encourage you my friends to keep Jesus constantly in your thoughts on your mind through prayer and reading his Word.
God bless you all on this 7th day of rest! =)
